The Calling
When you go down into the tube,
you should always leave
something of yourself above ground
that will reconnect with you
when you emerge at your destination.
It's a very subtle thing,
like a fleeting thought,
like a soft underbelly feather
left in the air
as a bird takes off.
It is this connection between
the upper and the lower worlds
that ensures a safe return.
It's a sort of calling that you leave
that must be later answered.
You will feel yourself rushing towards it
as you jog the escalator.
It is like a moment of completion
when you stand again under the sun.
