June Lausch
Victoriana
In her seventh year of service
she noticed that her head hung low,
her shoulders rounded.
And watched her face grow thinner,
longer, inverted in a spoon.
When she polished the wood
the grain was like the lines of her hands.
But as she cleaned the Coronation mugs
she would spit on the porcelain and say
"There's one in the eye for you".
June Lausch lives in London and is a teacher.
