Moving On With A Little Help
A song on the radio
startled me with haunted feelings
for friends lost through distance and time,
moments I want to recapture but can’t.
My quiet life gives me
too much opportunity to look back
and second guess what was.
This isn’t life but escape from it
in dead memories.
The smell of moss runs through my hair.
She puts a flower behind my ear
when she arrives and kisses me.
The fragrance of sunlight lingers on her lips,
and now on mine.
Let’s go, it’s time, she says.
