Sitara Khan
Pommakali
out of old mother’s womb I came
pushing, shaping my saucer body
drawing, collecting the vital fluid.
Joyous tears hang from my eyes.
Fearing lonely separation
I hung steadfast to the old tie - drawing collecting
splashing gushing....
In my image siblings followed numberless
large and small.
Millenniums passed thus with us playing, splashing,
throwing, sharing
the sun bleached milk keeping us timeless.
News of our enviable uniqueness
cotton castles
spread far and wide
bringing forth young and old
wishing wanting to retain regain the lost youth:
capture health, happiness and the alabaster skin they never had.
Full of illusive hopes they plunge in to our embraces.
Indifferent to their vanity or tortured state
the iridescent creamy waters follow their own
course, oozing, gushing
splashing dancing transient bubbles
washing them clean.
For some nature had a different plan:
Grave yards yawned for their flesh and bones.
The angel Gabriel
with a smile calls the register of mortal fools
you spent your time in
dreams of eternal hopes.
