Japanese Steel
They stole the Japanese kids’ playparks to build the Chinese Olympics
left primary-coloured plastic rocking in the wind
steel bundled into vans at the dead of night:
and all went well, till the metal unexpectedly
found its old shape again, and the athletes
pulled several muscles jumping on roundabouts
and one part of the crowd folded up
into a giant nodding animal, its spring
coiling strong, a vengeful manga monster
but it all ended happily enough
when the athletes broke their own moulds, learning to play again
and only the administrators cried in the sandpit.
