This fourth issue features poets from Wales, Cornwall, England, Scotland, Czech Republic and America. It also features a Poet Profile of American poet and art critic Rose Slivka. She and her husband David, the sculptor of Dylan Thomas's death mask, were close friends of Dylan and Caitlin Thomas during the now famous poetry tours of America. A renowned art critic, she increasingly thought of herself as a poet up to her death in 2004. I never met Rose. I did, though, meet David at his impressive studio in New York's Hell's Kitchen in 1997, when I gave readings at schools and venues in the city, and I interviewed him for the Western Mail, the national newspaper of Wales. He was very kind to me; and he gave me a photograph of the death mask in the process of creation and a copy of a brochure printed for the installation of one copy of the mask. The Seventh Quarry was recently showcased at New York's Poets House and Gotham's Book Mart. Many thanks to Stanley Barkan for organising its inclusion. The magazine was also featured in The Guardian (one of Britain's leading newspapers) on 15th April, in its Review section.
