Misstated Claims
So why, if nature actually abhors
a vacuum, has she made enough of it
to fill a universe? The opposite
seems closer to the truth. The claim ignores
what common sense makes manifestly clear:
it's matter she dislikes, for otherwise
the thinly populated night-time skies
would brim with light and fill each human ear
with sounds of planets grinding on a warm
and crowded course. And on that note: if love
can conquer all, then it is guilty of
malfeasance for its failure to perform
as advertised. The charge can't be dismissed
so long as one lone human harms another,
or comfort is denied to sister, brother,
or any longing lips remain unkissed.
