Imparities and flight
The bards of night and troubadours of day
In many voices sound a roundelay
Of chirps and twitters, warbles, pipes and trills,
Rejoicing magically across the hills.
How small compare imparities of wing,
When all in common share the call to sing.
Forbidding are the paths across a world
Where rankling standards rankly stand unfurled,
Where agencies of night in many masks
Aggrieve the longing for exalted tasks.
Though disparate desires aspire to flight,
They share as one some vision of the light.
