Welcome
"Always someone resting there --
a lone rock
in the summer field"
- Masaoka Shiki
Welcome to tranquillity and July’s RP. Time to put any pressures on hold for a while, seize your own space and immerse in poetry...
Thank you SO much for birthday wishes! It added so much and it was lovely to meet you / hear from you. It hasn’t gone unnoticed that my ‘sixo’ was clocked up. Bus pass reminders, hearing aid advice, and some wise words from Patrick Osada, such as ‘Your secrets are safe with your friends because they can't remember them either’ and People will call you at 9 pm and ask, “Did I wake you?”’ I think we know who’ll be buying lunch when we meet again, Patrick!
Another thank you to subscribers who kindly donate stamps to IDP. They are a major expense and always so very welcome.
Crab Lines Off The Pier was released early June and sales have topped 100 already. Early signs are that it will go on to rival the sales of our winter anthology and it’s being despatched to many overseas countries. The page opposite tells you how to order if you haven’t got your copies yet. And July sees the release of KV Skene’s wonderful collection You Can Almost Hear Their Voices. Available from website, Central Books or KV herself. Any queries to me in usual manner. And finally…in the sixth month…we have re-appearances in ‘The Box’: KV Skene, Mary Anne Perkins and Ted Harriott are all there for the second time – and congrats to Graham High for winning. So, listen to the quiet, settle where you will and enjoy this issue. Love and light until August, Ronnie G
