Poem
There is love there if I could give it,
some days the pain behind my bottleblinded
eyes,
my waterless mouth, some days the pain
of not feeling, knowing in fragments only
the beauty of things, of each flower head
held and inhaled, the sheer vitality
of sturdy violas, clumped, sorrowsongful
in dark, watered earth. Smelling the great
blue blooming fragrance of ceonothus,
street haunting musk, perfume grapes,
moments pitted against pain, beyond me
this love, some days I reach it, trembling,
love in a glass, heartsease, heartflowers ...
love in your heart could I touch it.
