Photographer's Note
Victoria Hill: Chain of Events
Victoria Hill was born in Doncaster in 1973. She graduated in Fine Art: Painting from the University of Wales, after which she spent four years exploring the west coast of Ireland. A series of conceptual photographic works were executed during this time the main focus of which was the contrast of found objects and the human body: in the series ‘Chains of Events’ the object used is a metal chain found by the seashore. These works embody for Hill the ‘seemingly unpaintable’ tensions, the pull and the force between the human figure and the vast landscape of the Irish coast.
She now lives and works in South Yorkshire.
