harm’s strength at arm’s length held, in the nonsense of wind,
held levelled bedevilled levelled held, taut within the heart
until the flawless act of letting go, of setting oneself free,
does sunder understanding so much so that such as we,
the lovers who overthrow the governing will to live
neither too afraid to die nor too afraid to give of
themselves in a bloodless coup, become bone and one flesh.
