Through The Eyes Of A Child
Dandelion clock grasped tight in hand
she shows how she can tell the time.
Her pursed lips blow with studied try
until fine silver parachutes
float like a cloud up to the sky.
With determination, her face now rapt,
twice more yet does she huff and puff
until all downy shoots are free.
Her blue eyes twinkle as she states
‘It's three o'clock Gran, did you see?’
She's sung and danced, made daisy chains
and searched for fairies in the wood
All energy drained, her steps grow slow.
She tugs my hand to take her home
and sweetly says, ‘I’m sorry Gran,
you’ll have to play now on your own.’
