in fuck-me red shoes
teeters along the pavement
swinging her hips in rhythm
to some silent tune.
She’s dreaming California,
bronzed blokes in Cadillacs
cruising busy boulevards
anticipating sex.
Turning away from the impact
she creates - whistles from
a building site, sudden
screech of brakes - she stops,
smooths her hands over
the tight-fitting dress, Raybans
focused on a pin-point of steel
in the sky heading west.
