John Souster
Toujours la Politesse
He had alighted from the train
And was closing the door
When he saw her approaching,
A so small, so neat Japanese lady.
Pulling back the door,
He allowed her to board
And shut it behind her.
She did not sit down at once,
But standing at the window
Beamed broadly and bowed deeply.
He did his best to reciprocate.
The train pulled out.
