...With a Shout on the Other Side...
outdoors shrouding
our father’s lemon tree
against the winter
upstairs
through a closed window
that small chandelier
still lit
in front of his portrait
incense smoke
dried leaves
day of the funeral
waning crescent
just before sunrise
Christmas present
from my late father
next year’s diary
pruning our father’s vines
without thinking
just the way he taught us
