Which word shall be my watchword
An English word, or a Scotch word?
A Latin word, or a French word?
Which word shall be my benchword?
What I would like is a punchword,
A floor-them-all word, a crunch-word,
A sum-it-up word, a clinch-word,
A honed-to-the-nearest-inch word.
Or should I go for a crutch-word?
A soft-as-a-baby’s-touch word?
A short, sharp, easy-to-reach word?
I carefully weigh up each word.
A colourful word, a catchword?
An original word, a scratch-word?
A meaningful word, a rich word?
If none of these words, then which word?
