In the Blue Hour
Light fails, or starts to fail,
the catchers quit dropping
blues on the shingle
and only the lolling buoys
glow under sky’s grey rumpled sail.
Marsh mute, creek all but drained,
darkness takes away my eyes.
What can I do, what can I say
to quicken night air into wind
and bring the tide swimming with light?
