Eternity
I made the mistake
of telling the insurance man
the one that ends, “so, if
I add, or subtract, ten or
fifteen years to, or from,
eternity, it still goes on forever.”
An incredulous glance...
then he upped my premium
and made me sign a dotted line.
So I walked out into the dark
to the next village and back
and straight into the pub.
Geraint looked like he’d
been there all evening. “I’ve golla
nufffer one more,” he said,
spilling small change across
the bar, “may as well, while I’m
still ‘ere.”
