Covering imperfection
I’m drowning on dry land,
I need you sea,
To wash over and bury me,
All your precious shells are seaside jewellry,
Like wreaths they adorn me.
As I feel myself sinking further in this watery grave,
Dolphin companions and seahorses drag me back to the surface,
Let me be....
Riding on a high wave,
Gasping for air,
Then taking a gulp of briny dew,
I’ve drank my fate now,
This place becomes my eternal home.
Mermaids are no legend,
They exist in my head,
I hear singing close by,
The funeral march of the waves....
