The Emperor raises his hand
invokes bamboo
You see the white space
the naked page stretched
You let breath enter
Rabbit hairs stroke the vibrating silence
draw dark characters ink wet
out of the orchid air
Mavis Gregson was a senior lecturer in further education in London. She now lives and writes in Berkshire. She published a chapbook of poems, small bronze, in 2005.
