Neige
qui naît sans langue
formée par nos bottes
apprend à faire coasser
comme les grenouilles en amplexus
d’un certain âge
acquiert la mentalité du siège
devient pudibonde
émet seulement chut
tourne morose quand elle est âgée
accroche sa peau de mouton
sur les haies d’arbustes
et nous laisse en larmes
Snow
is born without a tongue
schooled by our boots
learns to croak
like frogs in amplexus
in mid-life
comes by a siege mentality
grows prudish
utters nothing but shush
turns morose when old
hangs its sheepskin
on the hedgerows
and leaves us weeping
