Bird
This time
unlike last
never first
born of a way
night opens
not into release -
a flowering of the radial,
but like the jaws of a vice,
a relic
bone dry and waiting
to be recovered,
labelled.
Unspecified projectile
fracture to the brow
loosened from the bow of dark
a winged thing,
knows no peace,
but beats above my bed
brings no message
no prophecy
a density of air moved
the shatter of seconds into each other
where the mind holds not a thought but the
panic
of being held
in the shutter of a camera
the dark thing
caught,
the same moment
repeated
the film loop and the dark bird in panic
speeding.
