Differing Tastes
She never talks sense,
not to me,
just babbled junk about Venice and Lowry,
lights gone out and blown.
I always tried to tell him
Vivaldi is best in the centre of the concerto,
those slow cool movements,
silk languished over still boulders.
Wagner is what she needs,
a dosing up of Valkyrie and horsemen,
horsemen with blades
and loud so loud to the breaking
of the silence of her worm-turned head.
It is quiet here,
I eat peaches with ice cream in the stone-hole,
doze calmly in sight of my longhair cat,
sometimes listen to the clock,
