Cursed dormouse sitting on a high stool,
rat teeth filmed with the mildew of basement digs;
goblin sneer, and bright beautiful eyes, behind spectacles.
Gargoyle mind, subtle as black ice,
biting out clichés, etching meaning on diamonds;
cynic in fantastic clothes, clacking silver shears.
Laugh instantly disarming bourgeoisie enemies;
gruesome thing eating sometimes and begging pennies,
then emptying its pockets to street-singers in raincoats.
Toys discard their metaphors:
men in uniforms chase his painted
mask into a pantomime house.
Carves poems out of metals and jewels;
Rimbaud-like scorns art after adolescence,
fucks in a dirty bed, alone, philosophising.
