Small leased dogs barking at the moon
I sat in Barcelona at a table with a bottle
and a wine glass and my sister in the sun
A violet star appeared and my swollen sister smiled
as a raven artful line ran across my solemn face
A small special gift to protect me from
the azure and cobalt furies we had met at Montjuic
now keeping me awake in the Hotel Monte Carlo
whilst my vivid local sister dreamt sweetly
of the teeth of lilac larks
Too many colours, too many shapes biting my shoulders
The flight back that evening, I held a lightened bag
Why don’t you trip the bastard light fantastic
and get away from me
He swayed his hips in lagered circles
You might look good but you’re thick as shit she sneered
(Look good? He had a gazza head and dreadful trousers)
You don’t even look good he shouted down the platform
Aah but she was a gorgeous Uma creature
Black kick hem pants and a trapeze coat
Dancing in the underground wind
I left the tube at Tower Hill and walked across the bridge.
The sky was oil smeared orange with Canary Wharf white
that Lloyds Building blue, my Monument yellow
Stars can never fight through the diseased London sky
and my sister lives up north
I can make my own mosaics
