One of the one hundred things that no-one can have
Is here - tonne after tonne:
A high bird-necked ship in a room,
This disdainful crusting mucking ark,
This arcing blether and smash of metal
Is heartfelt in the rubbed-in marrow of its contempt.
So say it: this is beauty’s wreck,
This builds above churches and squats on the soul.
This is triune evil, rust and dirt.
This hangs down from the moon,
Shouts and cracks its name,
Hulks ravenously at the impossible
And churns and clunks and drags its own sea with it.
Slack-jawed like a canyon
My mouth fills up with silt.
