Everyday what I notice when I wake up
Is you being far away,
Arid so I’ve fallen into hoarding
Any little left behind writing of yours.
A postcard from Alcatraz
exposing two scantily clad female prisoners.
Get me outa here! Please. Hurry...
Things are getting weird.
A bus transfer, also from San Francisco,
Candice  423 Birch Ave. 6 pm.
That first phone number scribbled on Kleenex.

This morning loneliness
Is no smaller
For having these discarded bits of you,
Though I am less surprised now when I hear
Their wooden box storing itself up
Swiftly through the night, trembling
At your nearness to its sides.
Michael Bradford teaches elementary school physical education by day and by night plays with his new son and writes poetry. He lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. His poems have appeared in SEAM in the U.K., and in many Canadian journals.
