Plus Ca Change
Last night we played the animal. Today
I hear you singing to the children. There,
I think, she goes! It seems I muscled in
on private tunes which, glad to have me share,
you now make free confession of; our feet
were mingled to that sweet barbaric air.
And yet tonight I’ll greet, man being brute,
eyes not quite virginal, though make-up chic,
smart shoes, smart handbag, and conspiring grin
boasting the curly fleece this Jason seeks
with hardening muscle, and, as we begin,
will hear the same tune hissing through her teeth.
