Strange, still, to meet new people and be charmed.
  New                       The very verge
                                 of light, clinging against
                                 the only starless
                                 segment of heaven.
And almost romantic; perhaps rather than what if.
  Crescent                 Like a bleached
                                 and inconspicuous
                                 apostrophe, marking
                                 something missing.
To wake again, with a conker in your throat.

                                 nail, torn to the cuticle

Like a name, mentioned as if it were taken for granted.
  Oblate                    A smudge of glow
                                 thickly filtered through
                                 clouds is nonetheless
                                 less.
Conspiracies hatched with no co-conspirators.
  Waning                  Basalt never seemed so
                                 close to marble, its arc
                                 bent like the lost limb
                                 of a famous statue.
Resigning when you have not been in a position of importance.
 Sickle                      A Venn Diagram
                                 measuring the sets
                                 "invisibility" & "understanding"
                                 and their intersection.
Laughing at the joke you played on yourself.
  Old                         Silver parenthesis,
                                 single open bracket
                                 suggesting the world's
                                 a vast digression.
