Bridge
The unbreakable bridge
Cracks under the weight
Of its own rust,
Coats of paint
Have flaked like leaves,
For an age has softened
The boils of rivets.
We walk across
In a walk of trust,
You look at the sky
Noting how the clouds hang,
Anticipate a storm.
I eye the struts
And I sweat.
