To Climb A Mountain
I look to the mountain in my head,
Yesterday a million leaves fell
I danced and danced - round and round.
I was a child that day.
Mother wheeled me
In a wheely-chair,
We sat by the sea - and listened.
There are always rumours of war.
I did not like the sand
It was golden like the sun setting...
I see it on my silver fork.
That day I wore a white muslin dress
And was very pretty.
Now my reflection is so dark
I can almost hide.
Maybe I am a snowdrop?
Maybe I will have a second coming?
But I can only live in one day,
And my shadow is very long.
