Editorial
The positioning of the goods on supermarket shelves is, so we are told, a very important factor in determining sales. One is aware of this in putting a poetry magazine together. Some of the poems may catch the attention because of the page they are on or because of the poems they are placed with. Of course, some of us will pride ourselves on not being fooled by the wiles of the supermarket manager and we sincerely hope that our readers are sophisticated enough to give the poems in our magazine the attention they deserve, no matter what page they are on. Deciding where in the magazine to put poems could be a tough problem. It would be good if one poem led naturally to the next all the way through the magazine. So would it be if we could move gently and equally naturally from joyful to sad, sad to joyful, light to serious, serious to light, and so on. As it is, we have to do our best to find a satisfactory sequence and hope that none of the poems lose out by being where they are. We do try to give the poems space and to give the layout a semblance of visual appeal. We hope we have a measure of success and that you will enjoy the poetry. Thank you for your support.
