First Snow
For example, the snow: it promises more, like passing on
To a different plane, out through the kitchen door
Against the colours. Arteries and arcs of light are
In clear unisono. It is as if we kept going,
Our eyes at the backs of our heads, colliding with snow-fields
And meanings caught at someone else‘s birthday.
The faded film may be a good prospect:
Wine spilt on the carpet, and we are lying
In a glass bowl – just shake it
And our eyes and mouths are filled with snow.
Then a dawn is scattered like spillikins,
Suddenly there are light-jetted flowers in a vase
And other props: beads of moments
Strung on casual places,
Scattered dreams... and such purity
When subsequent frames compete against white,
you can taste the void. Catch one in flight, let sentence-vapour
Disappear in air, as if we kept forcing ourselves
Through intentions and instincts.
We may cast no shadows upon things.
