The Arctic Monkeys Sing His Soundtrack
'You've delivered the vegetables,
now I'm stuck here, on this fucking beach...'
He might add: 'And it's dark, and I'm looking at
a shut fishing museum, bolted huts,
lights swinging over couples going home from pubs,
or out to club-land.
And, incidentally mate, not only am I stuck,
having made your shitting delivery,
but I'm wearing a leather-look, fake Armani,
squeaky suit, or maybe
it's wearing me.
(Too tight under arm, crotch, bum).
'That sound'? This crappy
mobile someone sold me,
you have to bellow to be heard,
suddenly looks bigger than my hand,
oh, I'm way beyond stressed,
you're breaking up ... understand
I DID NOT CHOOSE TO BE HERE!
Wearing sunglasses in the dark,
which, I thought mistakenly, as it turned out,
would make me look just like a cool bloke in a song.
How wrong was I? How wrong?
I'll tell you ... Actually,
like 'The Monkeys' say
the look's all gone 'a bit Frank Spencer' ...'
His winded words should blow away,
anger tightening that plastic suit,
if some joker held a mirror up,
he'd be facing desperation
in the dark, in those 'imitation
of an imitation' shades,
things go tits up, loco, turbo,
more than just a bit Pete Tong
and it's all gone
as 'The Monkeys' say
come on, you know the song.
