The Return
A Poem About the Renaissance Hotel
For whose sake have you returned, my love?
Being given this breath, this kiss of life,
A century has past and I so wished I could be with you.
But as it is I say to myself you have become even dearer anew.
Still you excite as ever before,
I am drenched through with love for you.
You are like no other of the time, you perform loyally and willingly.
You radiate with joy, you move me, I grow under your spell.
With your cleanly washed face, I am taken by your gothic dress.
I have not strayed, not gone far,
I have lived as though in holy order,
Awaiting your return so that we may romance,
And let us become once more familiar.
I gaze up and watch, I want to go further than a daydream.
Let me cling to you dear, all my compassion is aroused for you.
Let me go deeper within myself, be a vessel for my want,
And I shall be as before to you a heavenly companion.
You cement me with desire.
