Girl In A Blue Dress
Trying to doze
in the afternoon
I slide into half
sleep’s little dream:
driving again, I am
driving again with
open window
and why is that
fair-haired girl
looking through
the opening with
such obvious distress
on her tiny face?
In her scabious blue
dress to the ankles,
running barefoot
beside my creeping
car, eyes imploring,
what does she want?
What can I do for
the fair haired girl
in the blue dress,
floating through
a perfect blue
summer sky?
