Dietary Laws
You hate me and fear me
because my way of life includes the eating of snakes.
God is that being with the longest tongue in the Universe.
A red Volkswagen bus with a woman and two children
stops in front of my apartment building and unloads groceries.
Your hamburger. Your brown rice. Your oranges.
First the fear. If you are controlled by the moon,
what happens if it falls or disappears?
Does it fall? Often. Disappear? Only behind clouds.
Hate. Hate is that anxiety that forms itself
into circles that orbit the moon.
You feed cow and pig to your children and laugh.
I am a snakeman and a man of snakes.
It is your Volkswagen. I hate and fear your Volkswagen bus.
I hate and fear your brown rice.
