No more Road Works ahead
What if the man with the umbrella
walked away from the red triangular
toil of money, work and obligation?
Stopped digging holes in the roads.
Filled up his internal space with light.
Stood up straight,
free from the backache of others.
Stepped his own path of imagination
without boundaries to a new found universe.
What if people saw his face
instead of a darkened silhouette.
Would they be horrified to know?
Eyes that sought a sense of the world
A childhood marvelling at the stars.
Ears that listened for morphic resonance;
The lingered alliteration of waves beach bound.
Feet, which paddled unprotected in
the surging brine of mysteries.
A mouth that asked eternal
questions
What if the man put up his umbrella in the sun and
Announced no more road works or delays?
