Haibun

Another Journey

I observe the shinkansen sleek as a dolphin at sea. Smooth as the silk that flows through the fingers. Impressed is the mind where memory lingers. Station and sky, rivers flash by, ancient and modern combine. Skyscraper flats, wide straw brimmed hats.

There are turtles
etching images
in inky green waters

People and platforms spotlessly clean. Lines on a fine curve, rice growing green. Old bodies bent low in timeless surrender. Ancients portrayed in an image agenda. Lulled by the smooth glide, I let the thoughts ride on fractional glances. Vision and images are built for romancers. All is compared with realities game, what is a rose, what’s in a name. The contours of mind formed became quite erratic, revealing the content soggy and static. I hear not the plain song a temple constructs, where silent on waters sit mandarin ducks. What is a nation in configuration, built in the shinkansen are thoughts of elation.

This journey was bound in yesterday’s schemes, now, I drift as we glide, to my Kyoto dreams.

an imagination
this soft pillow
