Melancholy at the end of March
You too are a stranger, late sunbeam.
You pierce Pittsburgh, enter through the window
And illuminate the dusty leaves
Of the flower asleep by the fireplace.
Green flames dance upon the ceiling.
The dust is visible, I can feel it,
Kiss it with lonely lips
And drink it in with thirsty nostrils.
Random sunbeam, you will burn out here.
Your life will cease in this room
Between the curtains and the empty bed
Among the sounds of falling jazz.
This is the end. The road finishes here.
But now it’s all the same to us where we’ll end.
Who is whistling among the azaleas?
Why is the parrot’s belly green?
