Serket's song *
I'm one of four who guard this shrine.
I tend his heart as if it's mine.
I'm tender in my carved embrace,
My smile ensures sweet Amun's grace.
I carry all his love and faith
Enshrined inside this wooden case.
I am the watcher draped in gold,
The keeper of this precious hold.
Upon my head there rests a dove,
The symbol of my timeless love.
Three thousand years I've kept my watch
In sorrow for his grievous loss
In concert with my slender peers:
We dance around the boy king's bier.
We are the compass points of prayer,
His soul in our eternal care.
Within the circle of our wings
The Ka of Tutankhamun sings.
Encircled by our timeless love
He smiles down from the stars above.
* Serket: one of the four tutelary goddesses whose outstretched wings protect the canopic chest
