Trainspotter Love
I’ve seen the signals and they all say go,
so I’m not counting any more.
I’ve torn up the timetable
for the light at the end of the tunnel,
for the footbridge that flies
through the station that doesn’t stop.
I’ve started at the end of the line
but I think I’m going off the rails.
Give me a platform to stand on
and a tannoy to tell it as it is.
I’ve just bought a dream ticket
for a Virgin that won’t miss the connection
and I’m on the emotion express –
the love that knows no delays,
the waiting-room that doesn’t wait,
the sleeper that doesn’t sleep.
It’s electric, it’s automatic,
and I can’t stop
because the breaks have been left behind.
