To Those Always On The Go
Why can’t we just sit here
and listen to the rain.
Imagine white swans necking the river,
sipping this silence,
comfortable in our old clothes,
in this place where good friends meet.
Instead of always being
on our way to some other place
where there’s no guarantee of a seat
and the brew’s flat,
like the conversation we can’t hear
ourselves not speaking.
