Pot Bouille
The heat of August in an empty house
Polished oak on flowered carpets
Heavy fruit in the orangerie.
The exiles of the past returned
The Sunday afternoons of childhood
Tea in the odour of honeysuckle
The leather satchel perfumed with fear.
Doors close in an adjacent house
Families and children chafe
A bird’s piercing cry
The wild moor
I love you, how I love you.
Then, silence, as before.
