Sally Baker
Alzheimer Biscuits
She made them in the afternoons
as winter closed in,
drizzle grazing windows
and orange pools for children
to swim through coming home from school.
Some had faces of relatives
with currant eyes and ears,
dough noses and eyebrows.
Some were so amazingly detailed
they had handbags and suitcases of clothes.
Each of them lacked something
which made them look slightly odd
but nobody could tell what was missing
and ate them anyway.
