Dead End Street
Oh God.
Not The Family From One End Street again.
I’ve been reading this since first year.
Still, Miss Jenkins doesn’t make us read aloud
like Fido.
We call him Fido
cause he looks just like a bloodhound
when he’s disappointed with us.
Like when we talk instead of listen,
or tear pages out of our rough books
to make Space Shuttles,
and bet on which will hit him first.
Or that time when he was dead pleased
cause I’d written a whole page.
Till he looked closer and saw
it was just the title again and again.
I hate The Family From One End Street.
Even the title’s boring.
The Flaming Family From Absolutely Boring One End Street.
The Family From One End Street Gets Run Over By A Bus.
The Family From One End Street Go Shopping
And Get Eaten By a Giant Squid.
The Giant Squid Is Then Sick.
What miss? No miss,
I was just smiling at the funny bit.
Well I thought it was funny miss.
I’d like to stuff The Family From One End Street
down the bog and flush them away.
I’d like to stuff Jenkins down the bog
and flush her away -
Who, me miss? -
till just her false teeth were left,
floating -
But you never make us read out miss
and then I’d fish them out
and jump up and down on them
till they were smashed to bits.
