Armchair Traveller
I feel my way around
the map of Scotland;
rock–stepping each isle
with gentle fingers
as though it were
my baby. I explore
ears, lips, eyes
of lochs keeping
dark secrets.
I want to lick my way
over salt–wave butchered cliffs;
observe time and again
guillemots dashing into
ocean spray for fish,
feel cold drills of snow
balanced on mountains.
Stare at aurora borealis
as she tips
her umbrella towards the earth,
opens her cloak
reveals a cosmic–gypsy dress.
I want to see light
flickering from heaven
to earth,
through punctured rainbows,
through multi–faceted mirrors.
