Not always obvious
it is what shows up
in taciturn hearths or pits
when we look hard.
It comes of seeing:
noticing something
out of the and utterly
ordinary
that has not faded
from the skimpy soil
or been digested by
oblivion.
Not often a crime
but mostly a wrong:
some outrage or disease
that scars the bone.
Something just fallen
or deliberately placed
and left, either way, to
posterity.
Appetite and need.
Scant evidence of love
except you lying there,
me standing here.
