Raud Allen Kennedy
A Friend
Snakes in the brown grass
on a heat stricken day
winding their way across the yard
toward the mice burrows.
There’s a liar amongst then,
one who isn’t a snake,
but was a gentle, kind being
before grief struck him.
And struck him again.
His faith was weakened,
but it’s still there.
So we sit and wait,
for it to surface
again.
